Movies From Your Past…Do They Inspire You Now?

February 23, 2010

As far back as I can remember, I have been obsessed with stories. Sure, when I was little, the normal desire to watch my favorite TV shows over and over was there, but I never knew that passion I felt for a story back then would help mold me into a writer. Here are just a few stories that influenced me early on:

The Parent Trap (The original—not the Lohan version)

This movie nurtured my mischievous side.

Gidget Movies

This one nudged along my hopeless romantic side.

The Labyrinth

Fed my need for fantasy.

Dazed and Confused

Opened my eyes to teenage snark.

Now that I’ve shared some of my past movie loves with you, I want to hear from you. What movies are seared in your brain—ones you always revert back to when you need a little inspiration?

Happy Writing,

  1. I love Parent Trap. It made me want a twin! Ever After ifluenced me. I heart it. 🙂

  2. I love the Gidget movies! Okay, I love Gidget and Gidget Goes to Hawaii. Gidget Goes to Rome, not so much.

  3. I can’t think of movies that inspire me, but I’m glad you had something open your eyes to teenage snark cause your snark is awesome!

  4. OMG, I LOVE MOVIES! Gidget was a huge favorite for me, too–I totally wanted to be Sandra Dee when I saw that! Also loved West Side Story, GiGi, My Fair lady(okay, so I have a thing for musicals). I also watched Zorro the Gay Blade with George Hamilton way too many times..um, maybe I shouldn’t admit that.

Plus, all the awesome YA stories later—Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, etc, etc.

  5. Thanks for sharing guys 😀 I ❤ movies!!! LOL
